My taste in home decor has changed so much throughout the years. I can definitely remember passing a few of these chairs by just a few years ago because I thought they looked too dated. Fast forward to this week and I am suddenly in love.

While out thrifting I came across two cesca style chairs with rattan back rests. I love the brass and the rattan backs and the seats just needed new upholstery and they were a total steal for less than 5 bucks apiece (Yay! Happy Dance). A few days later while sifting through craigslist I came across a listing for 3 more chairs with the same brass legs! the only difference was this time the backrests were wicker.....
I had a few different ideas for the backrests since now the 5 that I have don't match. Not only are 3 of the chairs wicker and 2 are rattan but they were different wood finishes as well. I initially said no to spray painting because I loved the look of the natural wood and then I had and idea to remove the wicker and rattan and macrame a fun tribal print on the backs.
- Leave the backs as is and just reupholster the seats.
- Spray paint the backs and call it a day
- Macrame a fun tribal pattern on the backs
